The simplest self-screening tool for depression consists of just two questions:
1. over the past two weeks, have you felt little interest or pleasure in doing things?
2. have you felt down, depressed or hopeless?
You don’t need to be a doctor to ask yourself, a friend or an elderly relative these questions. See your family physician or a trained counselor if the answers are a resounding “yes”.
